On January 17 & 18, 2010, American Family Association (AFA) joined with organizer Lou Engel of TheCall to Conscience along with pro-family leaders and thousands of pro-life Christians in Houston, Texas, to condemn the opening of Planned Parenthood’s abortion “Super Center” and celebrate the sanctity of life. Planned Parenthood is preparing to open the 78,000 square-foot facility in Houston, Texas, and will become the largest abortion clinic in the Western Hemisphere and the second largest in the world.
An estimated 7,500 pro-life Christians gathered at Houston’s Grace Community Church on January 17 for an intercessory prayer service and the next day an estimated 10,000 gathered on the grounds of Houston’s Catholic Charismatic Center to decry the opening of the abortuary and celebrate the sanctity of life. I was most impressed with the numbers of young people in attendance at both the prayer meeting on Sunday and rally on Monday. I think we are reaching the next generation with the message that killing babies in the womb is reprehensible. The need for and blessings of adoption was a common theme that was reiterated throughout the events of our days in Houston.
I was greatly encouraged to join with pro-life Hispanics and African-Americans on Martin Luther King’s birthday to proclaim that every baby in the womb deserves to be a part of Rev. King’s dream, and to have the chance at life that our Founders knew is a God-given right. You can’t honor Rev. King’s memory and legacy by killing the very people he gave his life for.
From the legalization of abortion in 1973, over 50 million children have been killed. In that time, the number one provider of both surgical and chemical abortion is Planned Parenthood. Houston’s abortion “Super Center” is right in the middle of four minority neighborhoods. Three of these neighborhoods average an 85% Hispanic population and the fourth is 80% Black American. Planned Parenthood says they are simply trying to serve the minority communities, but you don’t serve them by killing their babies before they have a chance to be born.
In 2010, Planned Parenthood will receive more than one million dollars every day from the pockets of American taxpayers. Approximately every 30 seconds since Roe v. Wade, a son or daughter has been killed. And although black women make up 12% of the population, they have 37% of abortions according to a recent Centers for Disease Control study. A black child is five times more likely to be aborted that his white counterpart.
The only way to stop the funding of this mass genocide company is to be vocal. Call senators and representatives to let them know that Americans are tired of murder for hire business.
But also realize that Planned Parenthood relies on more than federal money. Many local facilities are funded by state and local taxes.
Find out if a local Planned Parenthood is being funded by state taxes or if your city is praying Planned Parenthood for “family planning.” STOPP International has a plan to stop Planned Parenthood at the local level. It can be found at http://www.stopp.org/.

Lou Engle of TheCall is featured in the above video. I will travel to Houston, Texas, Sunday, January 17, 2010, to represent AFA at TheCall and a protest surrounding Planned Parenthood's opening of a mammouth abortuary in the city. I am posting the AFA Press Release below. In addition, I'm including a link to an article titled "Worth Saving?" from the January edition of the AFA Journal.

American Family Association condemns abortion super center
Planned Parenthood intends to open a six-story, 78,000 square-foot abortion facility in Houston, Texas. Numerous pro-life leaders from all across the United States will attend a prayer vigil on Sunday evening, January 17, and a silent march followed by a national press conference on Monday, January 18, Martin Luther King, Jr. day, to protest the opening of this massive abortuary.
Said Tim Wildmon, president of American Family Association (AFA), "This center is smack dab in the middle of four minority neighborhoods, three of them 85% Hispanic and one 80% African-American. This is just a continuation of the genocidal agenda of Planned Parenthood founder Margaret Sanger, an agenda picked up by Adolph Hitler.
“Planned Parenthood will try to say they are simply trying to serve minority communities, but you don't serve them by killing their babies before they have the chance to be born, Wildmon said. Killing utterly defenseless babies in the womb is hardly noble. It's reprehensible, and we stand with pro-life Hispanics and African-Americans to condemn this temple to the god of death.”
Added Buddy Smith, the executive assistant to the president of AFA, “It's fitting that this march will take place on Martin Luther King, Jr.'s birthday, the day we've chosen to honor the pioneer of civil rights. We believe every African-American baby in the womb deserves to be a part of Rev. King's dream, and to have the chance at life that our Founders knew is a God-given right.
“You can't honor Rev. King's memory and legacy by killing the very people he gave his life for.”
Mr. Smith will attend the prayer vigil on Sunday evening and the march and press conference on Monday.
